Rainsford falls out of his boat as he looks into the darkness to try to figue out where the sound of a gunshot came from.
I'm Sanger Rainsford of New York. I fell off a yacht. I am hungry.
It isa very great pleasure and honor to welcome Mr. Sanger Rainsford, the celebrated hunter, to my home.
Rainsford finds a house on the island. He is warmly welcomed by Gerneal Zaroff who invites him in for dinner.
Hunting? Great Guns, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder.
I refuse to believe that somodern and civilized a young man as you seem to be harbors romantic ideas about the value of human life.
Rainsford finds out that General Zaroff is an avid hunter like himself. General Zaroff however, grew bored with hunting animals and now hunts humans on his private island.
General Zaroff tracks Rainsford up into the tree he is hiding in. But by mere luck, General Zaroff fails to notice that Raisnford is in the tree. Rainsford realizes that General Zaroff was only saving him for another day of hunting.
Raisnford is chased all the way to a cliff and decides to jump off into the water instead of getting caught by General Zaroff.
On guard, Rainsford.
Rainsford swims back to General Zaroff's house and hides in his bed. General Zaroff challenges him to a duel and the loser is fed to the dogs while the winner sleeps in the bed. Rainsford slaughers General Zaroff and has the best sleep of his life.
