- Jing-mei's mother moved from China to America to be happier with her life after losing everything in China due to its controlling goverment.

- One day Jing-mei's mother got the idea to force her daughter to play piano. Because they didn't have a piano Jing-mei's mother traded cleaning services for piano lessons from Mr.Chong.

- Jing-mei's mother had high expectations for her daughter to be a child prodigy. So she made her daughter do tests that were hard on Jing-mei
- That was beautiful!
- Well she tried!
- A couple days later she had it with her mother so on that day she let all her anger out and brought up wishing she wasn't born. This left her mother speechless and her mother walked away...
- One day Jing-mei's mother and Mr. Chong who jing-mei secretly called Old Chong decided to put her in a talent show but Jing-mei didn't take it seriously and played horribly!
- Wow she is horrible!
- Later in life Jing-mei's mother passed away and Jing-mei went to the apartment and saw the piano. She played the song she played at the talent show it was harder then she remembered . Then she played a different song that was beautiful and long.And she felt as if all her stress went away.
