  • On March 22, 1765, the British Parliament passed the “Stamp Act” to help pay for British troops stationed in the colonies during the seven year war. The act required the colonists to pay a tax, represented by a stamp, on various forms of papers, documents, and playing cards.

  • The Parliament initiated The Townshend Act in 1767.The Townshend Act put taxes on glass,lead,paint,paper,and tea.The American colonists saw the act as an abuse to power. The colonist didn't import British goods until the act was repealed.
