- The entered the market in the year 1999, with their first smartphone model (type 850). Blackberry was a pioneer in bringing email services to a mobile phone. The served a higher security rate than others. Furthermore, was it more a status symbol for the rich and famous. Another unique feature was an integrated Qwerty keyboard in their mobile phone.
- BlackBerry technology and smartphone devices.
- Apple, Samsung, and other big companies took their chance after BlackBerry failed to follow the innovation movements other mobile device companies made.
- They didn’t change their concept and therefore they went downhill and didn’t recover. The company got sold a couple times.
- BlackBerry was once market leader in selling mobile phones, but their lack of flexibility and closed-minded mindset for innovation/ chance caused them to go downhill. Apple introduced their first “iPhone” in 2007 with a touchscreen panel.
- They are still in the mobile device business but decreased a lot in size and name. Blackberry produces android devices instead of their own OS system they offered at their peak moment as a market leader.
- Their lack of will to change and implanting new innovative steps made them vulnerable for competitors who did.
