- I have been wondering what really is the Earth's shape.
- Even if I am old, I am also confused, since some of our great philosophers are having an argument about the Earth's shape.
- I agree. Plato says that the Earth is cube while the other philosophers said that it is actually sphere.
- I think I'm going to believe that it is actually sphere. as Pythagoras is the one who first proposed it and it is believed by many Greeks like us.
- But an Earth cube would probably cooler right? Hahaha
- Yes but there are more evidences that the Earth is sphere rather than being a cube.
- What are those? So I can be convinced that the Earth is actually sphere.
- Anaxagoras backed up Pythagoras' theory by observing the shadows produced by the Earth on the Moon during a lunar eclipse and noticing that the shadow is really a circle.
- Ooh. That's actually so cool, but I still need more evidences.
- The positions of the North Star, the shape of the Moon and the Sun, and the disappearance of ships when they sail over the horizon were among Aristotle's arguments for a spherical Earth.
- Even my favorite philosopher, Aristotle, has so many evidences to offer. I think I will read more books about it. Thanks for the information and I know believe that the Earth is sphere.
