- The Eurocentric government made sure everyone thought that all Indigenous people were dangerous, gross, and wild, so not only were the children abused but the adults were marginalized in any mainstream society so they had lost their land and couldn't work in the European society surrounding them
- the government tried to assimilate Indigenous people so they were put in residential schools where they were displaced from their homes and families. The schools were run by the catholic church and kids had Catholicism forced on them. Beyond the abuse they were barely taught anything, half of what they did was cleaning the school, doing labor for the adults running the school.
- Colonists took the land that Indigenous people lived off of and turned it into their own homes with no care for where the people might go. They had no help, and no jobs, they had imperialistically been kicked off their land. After that they had no food or shelter, and no way to get any unless they made themselves look like a European.
- After cultural contact Indigenous people could no longer practice their beliefs, it was forced to replace it with Catholic beliefs and traditions, despite how they were raised. When colonizers took political control Indigenous people had to listen to them, especially since they had better weapons and a power to kill them if they disobeyed.
