Sek-Lung's situation

Months before grandmamas death

First week of school

Studying with Grandma at home

Day of Grandmas death

This family of 8, moved to Vancouver, from China.

Unlike his older siblings, Sek-Lung was quite frail due to his lung infection, so he couldn't go to school or do much, making his grandma taking care of him the most.

Although the family kept telling Grandma that she needed a doctor, she would refuse and make an excuse that she was just sick. Sek-Lung really cared and worried for her as they spent the most time together.

On one of the first weeks of school, Sek-Lung fell over something and started to bleed out of his nose hard. His sister, Liang, had to bring him back to their house, where his father told him that he won't be able to attend school he was feeling good.

As Sek-Lung's father didn't allow him to go to school, Grandma would teach him Mandarin and Cantonese to help him speak their native languages.

As Grandma was on her deathbed, she promised that her spirit will forever live with him and the family. This made Sek-Lung less worried and made him have hope.
