- Vast Traveler
- He is a king but he went to war at troy and once it ended he tried sailing home but Poseidon broke the ship. He ended up on Calypsos island and she has kept him there for a long time. But Calypso got a message from Zeus that said to release Odysseus. ( pg. 1110, line 10-20)
- Unmatched Warrior
- Odysseus goes into a cyclops cave for food and drink. He gets trapped and the cyclops keep eating his men. So he has a plan to get the cyclops drunk with very good wine then he stabs him in the eye with a hot spear. Odysseus has told the cyclops that his name is nohbody, so when the other cyclops come to see what was wrong with Polyphemus ( the cyclops), he says that "Nohbody has stabbed me in the eye" and Odysseus escapes on the bellies of the cyclops sheep. This shows his superhuman intelligence and how he can be brave and a hero. (Pg. 1118-1120)
- Battles super natural forces
- Throughout this epic story, Odysseus is sailing a ship. First, he was sailing to the Island of the Lotus-eaters. Then he traveled to cyclops island. He has been trying to sail home for a long time but he isn't very good with directions. For most of the story, or at least book 9 he is just traveling. pg. 1122-1124 all thought it is mostly throughout the story)
- Odysseus was the reason the war of troy ended. He created the trojan horse to act as a gift but little did they know there were warriors inside the horse. Once everyone was asleep the warriors jumped out of the horse and killed everyone, ending the war. This shows how he was a warrior, although he did not really fight he used his intelligence to end the war. (Book 4, page undetermined)
- The Cyclops, son of Poseidon, Polyphemus. This was the greatest supernatural force that Odysseus faced. As he didn't kill the cyclops and some of his men died. He used his knowledge to almost blind and then leave the cyclops cave with all of his sheep. He showed how he really can be an epic hero at this moment. ( Book 9, Page 1114-1120)
