Why don't we force colonists to pay taxes on imported goods to raise money for our military?

Boston Massacre (1770)One night when colonist were protesting British soldiers, British soldiers fired on and killed 5 unarmed men. It contributed to the American Revolution by sparking a rebellion against Britain for killing five innocent men.
Townshend ActsParliament passes this act in 1767 which made colonists pay taxes on imported items to pay for military cost due to the Quartering Act. It taxed everyday items such as paper, lead, and much more. It contributed to the American Revolution because colonists started to boycott British goods and use violence against tax collectors.
Intolerable acts / Coercive act (1774)Britain closed Boston Harbor until the colonists paid back the money they lost from the Boston Tea Party and keep the colonists from planning other attacks. This helped start the American Revolution from outraged colonists as they were forced to get goods from other outraged colonies.
