- Miles Halter arrives at the boarding school in Alabama. When her arrives he finds he has a roommate who goes by the name "The Colonel" and he has a drop dead beautiful friend named Alaska that will hurt him and teach him.
- Climax
- The ups and downs of Alaska Young and her conflicting feelings towards everyone, making them either love, hate her, or both.
- Falling Action
- I am sorry to inform you of Alaska Young's tragic death. She died immediately upon collision.
- Alaska and "The Colonel" start drinking leading to a game of truth or dare that ends with Pudge and "The Colonel" sitting in her room alone waiting to see if she returns.
- Resolution
- Alaska leaves "The Colonel" and Pudge wondering if they will ever see her again. They will not.
- The Eagle calls everybody to the gym and has to deliver the terrible news of Alaska's death leaving "The Colonel" and Pudge a mess.
- Pudge and "The Colonel" move on and work past Alaska's tragic death. They start attending school again and begin passing their classes.
