- In their living room, Doña Victorina and Captain Tiago discuss plans for María Clara and Linares’s wedding.
- Maria Clara worries about her fate when she marries Linares. Aunt Isabel comforts her niece, telling her that marrying Linares will grant her all kinds of privileges.
- Everyone will envy us, they’ll die of envy!

- At Tiago's party, while the men in the party are talking about Ibarra's fate, Senor Guevarra juts into their conversation.
- It is only because Ibarra trusted the wrong people that he landed in such unfavorable and compromising circumstances
- As Senior Guevara talked, Maria Clara overheard all about their conversation about Ibarra. She then decided to go to the patio and breath some fresh air.
- As Maria Clara perched against the railing, she sees a boat docking below. As she carefully watched the boat, she noticed that there were two men on the boat. She soon realized that one of them was Ibarra.
