- In this scene Scout and Jem discover that their knot hole has been filled with cement. They are devastated because they have been giving and receiving gifts with Boo Radley. They find out that Nathan Radley filled it and they suspect it's because they were in contact with Boo.
- "Don't cry, now, Scout... don't cry now, don't you worry"
- "Well go on, me and Scout's right behind you"
- In this scene Jem is running up and touching the Radley house while Scout and Dill watch. Scout is very upset about this and thinks it's extremely dumb. Dill is very on board and is with Jem on this idea
- "I'm going, don't hurry me"
- In this scene Scout is talking to Atticus about how much it upsets her that Mrs Caroline will not let her read anymore. Atticus reassures her and promises that they can still read the paper every night. They also talk about the Ewells and Cunningham's and the exceptions they receive
- "And she said that you taught me all wrong, so we can't ever read again. Please don't send me back there sir"
- "You can never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb into his skin and walk around"
