Aristotle's characteristics of a heroic character includes the trait where he believes a hero should be from noble birth. Hamlet being the son of a king and therefore a prince does make him in that category. making the fact that he has to leave his home that he was supposed to rule more difficult.Hamlet is also a character with Hamartia. Through out the play he has a hard time following through with many of his opportunity to kill his uncle. While he does succeeded in killing his uncle in the end he too ends up dying. He also meets Aristotle's requirement of peripeteia. This starts when Claudius knows that Hamlet is trying to kill him and the makes an effort to then have Hamlet killed. This leads Hamlet to try and flee his home and leave his family, along with avoiding assassins.
Hamlet throughout the play does have a since of Hubris when it comes to his intelligence. He believes he is more cunning then those around him, along with his high opinions of his own importance.Hamlets self showing the characteristic of anagnorisis comes in the end when completely an utterly accepts death. You can see throughout the book he is constantly battling the thought of is he should die or not to die. As shown in "to be or not to be" In the end he accepts his fate and does not fight it.Hamlet expediences suffering that then leads to catharsis all throughout the play. From to the constant struggle against suicide to the duty he feels the pressure to get revenge for his father after his murder.
