- The Louisiana Purchase was sold to the Americans by the French. the French has a desperate needed money so they sold land to the Americans. This was the start of expanding the United States.

- Lewis and Clark were one of the first Americans to explore Kansas. They did not spend much time in Kansas. Lewis and Clark spent 123 miles in Kansas on their 8,000 miles trip around the new given land.They described Kansas with great worth and beauty.

- Zebulon Pike had explored kansas in hopes of finding a place for people to live.But when he was exploring he was only met with a desert.

- Stephen long had made a map and over Kansas he put the words The Great American Desert . He had traveled on steamboat around the land that the Americans had bought from the French.
- Jackson made a speech about about moving the native americans to kansas.He wanted to move them to kansas because kansas was a desert.
- The native American had been move over to an unfamiliar lands with each other even if they are enemy tribes.And were forced to live with each other in a unfamiliar place and not knowing the type of landscape or weather. Americans would expect them to starve and die.
