Trees have the ability to photosynthesise, and this is a big part of the carbon cycle. Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is transferred and absorbed into plants such as trees (biosphere), which is included in the process of photosynthesis.
Oh boy, I sure do love observing the process of photosynthesis!
Fun fact! Breathing and respiration are not the same. Breathing is the process of clearing out carbon dioxide from your body, as well as taking in oxygen from the atmosphere. Respiration is using oxygen and chemical energy from the glucose inside your cells to create energy, and can be used for basic living needs!
In order to live, every living organism must go through the process of respiration. Respiration is using oxygen and chemical energy from the glucose inside your cells (cellular respiration happens within the mitochondria) to create energy, and can be used for basic living needs! The energy created helps you do basic things such as moving and growing. Carbon dioxide is one of the products of respiration, and is released into the atmosphere via the biosphere.
Humans have made a massive impact on the carbon cycle. Combustion through burning fossil fuels in factories creates unnecessary amounts of carbon in the atmosphere. Deforestation allows less plants to photosynthesise, increasing the amount of carbon that resides on the earth. All of this contributes to global warming and damages the earth further. The best thing for us to do is to try and take action, so we can all strive to fix these problems and keep our planet healthy!
