Return of Time

10 Years Earlier. . .

Rachel and her best friend Isabelle used to play pretend all the time. They would act out their favorite scenes from movies, and they were inseparable.

Rachel and Isabelle would play at the river near their houses everyday after school.

"Oh Juliet!!"

"Oh Romeo!"

"AHHHH! Help! I'm drowning!" *gurgle gurgle*

One day, when Isabelle and Rachel were 12, they were playing in the river like they always did. And Isabelle started yelling and acting like she was drowning. Rachel noticed this, but didn't worry because they often pretended that they were drowning to practice their acting. After a couple minutes of silence and no movement, Rachel started to get worried.

"Isabelle!" She says between sobs. "Oh, Isabelle...."

Rachel finally goes over to her friend's overturned body, and realizes that she's dead. Her best friend is ... gone. Rachel looks into Isabelle's wide eyes, and is horrified at the marble glossy eyes. This image burned in her mind. She sobs and sobs and thinks about what to do. She's confused and terrified. 

Rachel tried to think about the best thing to do... but she was scared. She thought that she would bury Isabelle, in a beautiful respectful place near their favorite place, right next to the river. So she did. She sobbed as she covered her best friend's body with dirt. In that moment, she vowed to never tell a soul about what happened that day. Little did she know how much it would haunt her in the years to come. . .
