- Stage 5 identity vs. role confusion: From ages 1-20 it is known as the adolescent life stage. This is where people figure out the different roles they play in their community. Failing to find their identity and what they want to do with their future can lead to role confusion and shame.

- Stage 6 intimacy vs. isolation: From ages 20-30 it is known as the young-adulthood stage. In this stage people take on responsibility and establish their place in society.

- Faering commitment in the workplace or relations can lead to loneliness and isolation.
- Stage 7 Generativity vs. Stagnation: Ages 40-65 are known to be going through their middle-adulthood. By this stage people have completed or are sompleting their goals and are becoming more envolved with family.
