This was significant to western settlers because it opened tons of land for them to make plantations, farm, and hopefully get rich due to slavery. The natives however had no recognition of this trade, and would soon be unfairly driven out of their land.

The “iron horse” was significant to the white settlers because many settlers became rich because of it, and since the railway stretched all across the US it led to easy transportation of goods, helping the north win the civil war. It was important to the natives, because as the train would go by, it would constantly kill their buffalo which they honored and reminded them that they were in US land.
