- Fortunato really prided himself on his knowledge of wine and Montresor tells Fortunato about a pipe he has received.
- Amontillado? A pipe? Impossible! And in the middle of a carnival.

- Montresor convinces Fortunato to go to his vaults and find the Amontillado.

- Montresor and Fortunato search the catacombs to find the Amontillado.

- Montresor chains Fortunato up and locks him behind the wall.
