Demeter and Persephone
Storyboard Text
- Once upon a time Persephone was gathering flowers from a field for her mother Demeter when she smelled something wonderful. She just knew she had to get it or her mother. She followed the scent that led her away from her friends.
- Hades had been spying on Persephone for some time now and he knew Demeter would never let her live with him so he went up to Zeus to ask him. Zeus agreed with Hades so decided to kidnap Persephone. He drove a horse drawn chariot right up a crack in the Earth and scooped Persephone up and she screamed "Mother, mother help me!" And there she went right down to the underworld. When they got there Hades begged her to stay and be his wife.
- Every single day Hades would bring her a little bit of food to try and make her eat and he would also declare his love. She always turned away and refused him. She eventually started to admire the decorations. One day Hades proposed. He said "Come my love, let me show you my domain. Come and see he world to which you bring such light and of which you can be Queen, if only you will marry me."
- Demeter was so mad because Helios finally told her the truth. She went up to Olympus and called upon Zeus. She said "Never again shall I step foot on Olympus and never again shall I let the ground be fruitful and yield its crops, until I once again behold my beloved daughter whom you have conspired to steal from me." So then Zeus sent Hermes his, his messenger to sort things out with Hades.
- Persephone was starting to like Hades more and she liked the idea of being the Queen of the underworld. When Hermes arrived he saw that Persephone had already eaten six of the pomegranate seeds. He was too late.
- Hades knew why Hermes was there and that Persephone ate six of the pomegranate seeds which meant she would eventually have to return to he proposed that every spring she could go see her mother for six months and help with all of the crops and stuff and then she would have to return to him for six months and rule the underworld. And now this cycle repeat every year creating the seasons.
