- World War 1: WW1 took place from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. There were two main Alliances, the Triple Alliance was Italy, Austria-Hungary, and Germany. The Triple Entente was France, Great Britain, Russia, and United States.

- There were four main causes of war: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. Militarism means that the army and military forces, are getting a high profile by the government. In Germany and Russia, the military began to have a greater influence on public policy. This helped push the countries involved into war.

- Imperialism is when a country takes over a new area and makes them subject to their government. Because Great Britain and France owned a large amount of land, this increased the rivalry with Germany.
- Why is this SINKING?
- Nationalism is a feeling that your country is the best country in the world. European countries were extremely proud of their own countries, and if they disliked what another country did, the hated country would want to retaliate.
- The assassination of Archduke Fran Ferdinand on June 28, 1914 was the spark that ignited Europe into the War. He had even very unpopular because he had made it clear that once he became Emperor,he would make changes.
- There were two major events that occurred in 1917 which caused the United States to enter the war. There was the sinking of the Luistania killing innocent US citizens and the Zimmerman note which was published to help the US prove cause to be in the war.
