- when miss. Emily Grierson died, her whole town went to her funeral because of out of curiosity and what was inside her house.
- one day miss Emily receive an email from the new government that she needs to pay a tax bill but she ignores it. after this, the board of aldermen speaks with colonel Sartoris who has been dead for years
- 1895 two years after the death of Miss Emily father's. her neighborhood complains to the mayor Judge steven about the horrible smell coming from Miss Emily's house.
- a year before that smell Emily meets Homer Barron. they take buggy rides together. she wanted him to marry Homer Barron but he insist because he was not a marrying man.
- the story moves forward a year (1895) when miss Emily buys arsenic from the drugstore. her neighborhood was convinced that she is going to kill herself because homer was not a marrying man. after that homer Barron was no longer seen again.
- The townspeople break the door of the locked bedroom of miss Emily after a few days of miss Emily's funeral. the room was decorated with the bridal site when they took close to the bed they see homer Barron dead body and beside him is an empty pillow that have a long hair gray
