- The Telgemeier family is traveling this summer. Raina is going on a road trip with her brother, sister, and mom to Colorado for a family reunion. Her dad is flying and will meet them there. The road trip will take a week and Raina and her sister are already fighting.
- CLIMAX
- The family is in the van driving along and Amara asks Raina for colored pencils. Raina lies and tells her she doesn't have any. Then Raina puts her headphones on and listens to music. Amara keeps shouting and the girls keep on fighting.
- FALLING ACTION
- The family goes to a campsite and everyone is tired of eating mashed potatoes and Cup-of-Noodles. They all wish they had fast food. Raina is upset because her walkman needs batteries.
- RESOLUTION
- The family finally gets to Colorado and Raina was hoping her cousin would hang out with her. Her cousin has changed so much and doesn't seem interested in being friends at all. Raina feels left out and bored.
- The family leaves and starts their drive home. The van breaks down and Mom and will go for help. Raina and Amara are left in the van together for a few hours. Raina sees Amara's lost pet snake in the van and freaks out. Amara is too scared to catch it but Raina surprises herself and gets it for her sister.
- The family reunites, the van gets fixed, and they start their drive home again. The girls tell Mom and Will about finding the pet snake. Raina and Amara start being nice to each other.
