- Greece used to be separated into city-states with its own cultures. These Persian wars unified them into the Delian League, as they wanted to defeat Persia. Their culture mingled and spread as a result.
- The Battle of ThermopylaeThe Spartans knew they were going to die, but they had to survive long enough in order to save everyone else in Athens and allow them to evacuate. They saved Greece.
- Then we die in honor!
- You foolish Spartan warriors. You shall die!
- The ending of the Peloponnesian War caused many problems. Democracy in Greece was lost. The Greeks were in so much despair and had suffered so much irreparable damage that Macedonia eventually conquered them.
- This slide depicts the battle of Aegospotami, the final battle of the Peloponnesian War where Athens scavenged for needed food and supplies and was then captured (leading to surrender).
- We need food. We'll take the risk.
- This represents the burning of Persepolis, Persia's capital. Many religious writings were destroyed, valuable items were taken, and Alexander's greatness was diminished by his sacrilegious acts.
- Because of Alexander the Great, Greek culture spread and Greece was finally avenged against Persia after Alexander destroyed their capital city,
- Hmmm...I'll take all the furniture, a thousand talents, and a crystal.
