- Throughout Gina's education, Gina's parents advocated for her to be in programs that would provide her with support in socialization, peer interaction and communication.
- As Gina grew older, her mother was concerned with the opportunities she would have after graduating. Gina became an active participant in her community and attended a variety of community-based programs.
- As a teacher, I will help parents share their voice by advocating for their children regardless of their abilities. If a child has a disability, I will provide them with extra support so that they can be successful in their academics and other life skills. I will never give up on any child and I will always be open to communicating with the families about their concerns and thoughts regarding their children. Disabilities do not define anyone and all children should be given a chance to have a bright future!
- Gina's story shows how children with disabilities are not a burden to their family or society and should be able to participate in all that life has to offer.
