  • Manifest Destiny was a Triumph because thought Thomas Jefferson doing the Louisiana Purchase, Lewis and Clark exploring the West, Sacagjewea carring the expedition the USA would not be as it is today. But just becuase it seems that way now it was not always the case. For the purpose of westward expantion all the people living in the 13 colonies needed to expand west, meaning that the Native Americans that lived there were trewated extrmly unfairly.
  • They were forced out of there home and land. Land that they have been living on for hundres of years. They were brought to live in colonies, and forced to change there ways of living. Not just this but also in 1884. Jefferson opposed the extention of slavery into the Northwest territory, but he later supported its Westward Expansion because he forced that any restrictions of Slavory could lead to a Civil War and the end of the nation.
  • Things like these show possible ways that Manifest Destiny was a Tradady. But there were many good outcomes to Westward Expantion that in the end make it a triumph. This is why I think manifest destiny was a Triumph and not a Tragedy.
  • Along the way they find that the river they used to travel ha ended, and they could no longer travel on it. They would have to go by foot. On the way they relized they would run into Naites American and there homes. They meet Sacagewea. She was a Shoshome interpreter and guide for the expedition. They needed her to help communite with the Shoshone. But the process was very complex for interperatation. She translated it the languge from the Shoshone to the Gros Ventre Indians which her husband understood and he translated it into French to someone who spoke fench, and then they translated it to english.
  • She gave birth to her son Jean Baptiste Charbonneou on April 7, 1805. She carried her infant along the whole way. Sacagewea was not just and interperature for this expedition she was much more. he being there showed other Natives that they say that Lewis and CLark and the other men came in peace it was helpful to them. She also showed Lewis and Clark important passagways through the wilderness, she also demonstarated her knowlage of edible plantes along the cousre helping to feed the entrie group.
  • From this the Lewis and Clark expedition was a great succsus. Yes, along the way there were some hardships involving sickness and weather but in the end without the help of Lewis and Clark the USA wouldnt have been what it is today. But just this expoedition more parts of Westward Expantion such as the Trascontinental Railroad, Trail of tears, ECT.) All these events are extremly important part of the USA history.
