Storyboard Text

  • Hey Susan, why don't we float?
  • Well Jonas, The reason that we don't float away is because there is an invisible force holding us down.
  • I think I've heard of something like that before, is it gravity?
  • Very good Jonas, it is called gravity. Do you know how it works?
  • No not really, do you think you could explain it to me?
  • Of course Jonas, gravity is a force of attraction that pulls together all matter. The more matter something has, the greater the force of its gravity. That means really big objects like planets and stars have a stronger gravitational pull.Do you understand that?
  • That makes total sense, so is gravity the reason why planets stay in place?
  • Exactly right, it is also the reason why objects fall to the ground, just like that coffee cup.
  • Thanks for all your help Susan, I just have one more question, who discovered gravity?
  • That's ok Jonas, and to answer your question Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity.
  • Thank you so much Susan, I now fully understand what gravity is!
  • Thats alright Jonas, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask me.
