Carol first meets Mr. Linden at a hardware store. Then she asked him if she could get a book from his library and he said yes.
Carol goes into the library and finds a book on the window seat. She reads it even though Mr. Linden asked her not to.
Carol talks to Mr. Linden about the mysterious book and how it stays on the same page. He tells her that some books are not meant to be read.
Mr. Linden died after he talked to Carol. He sold his house to a charity for aged seamen.
The books were sold to a dealer. Carol told the dealer that she was Mr. Linden's friend and that she wanted to take a book for a keepsake. He said that she could take a book and she went looking for the book that Mr. Linden was reading. She found it under Mr. Linden's pillow.
That night Carol reads the book. Then she realizes that she should have listened to Mr. Linden. Now she will not be able to stop reading the book. She then pleads herself not to pick up the book again.
" Can I come to your library Mr. Linden? "
" Yes you may young lady. "
I wonder what this book is about.
"Child let me tell you something. Some books are better off not read."
Goodbye Mr. Linden.
"Mr. Linden, I am interested in your book."
Here you go ma'am.
There it is!
Oh no. Please don't pick the book up again please.
