The Trail Of Tears

The Sicknesses Through The Trail

New Home In Kansas

They lived in Twin Lakes,Indiana, and their leader was Cheif Menominee.

Andrew Jackson sent some of his men to their home to get them drunk and have them sign treaties that would not be in the Potawatomi's favor.

Andrew Jackson just wanted them gone. So he sent armed soldiers to get the conquered subjects. What Jackson was absolutely against the Constitution.

When the armed soldiers had the Potawatomi tribe they marched them through the long and devasting trail of tears. Which would be the trail to Kansas.

Along the march many starved to death, especially young children died. Sickness was on the rise and many, many, many people from the tribe did not make it all the way to Kansas.

Today the descendants of Menomiee's people are part of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation of Oklahoma.

(Kansas back then got renamed to Oklahoma)

Oh my gosh what is going on over there!

Why are they doing this to us?
