- The day Colin graduated highschool, he was dumped for the 19th time by another Katherine.
- When it comes to relationships, this child prodigy, Colin Singleton, type of girls is ones named Katherine.
- On a road trip miles from home with his jewish best friend Hassan, they are on a mission to prove the theorem of Katherine predictability. Which he hopes will predict the future of any relationship.
- Colin and Hassan accepted. They are staying with her in her house, a pink mansion, shared with only her mom.
- As Colin mourns over his 19th Katherine, they reach Gutshot, Tennessee. They later meet a girl named Lindsey. She invited them for dinner in her home and later offered them a place to stay.
- Colin spent nights in his room working on his theorem while Hassen and Lindsey played scrabble. The three of them grew very close.
- Lindsey's mom Hollis gave them a job: interviewing people around Gutshot. After, they go to the store to hang out with Lindsey's boyfriend who is also named Colin (TOC).
- Colin and Hassan met Lindsey's friends and were invited to go hog hunting with them the next day.
- Colin told Lindsey he didn't know how to hunt so she took him out that night into the woods to teach him how to shoot a gun.
- Lindsey and Colin became close that night and she showed him her secret cave she found. Lindsey has never showed anyone this cave before.
- And so the next day the 4 of them, Lindsey's friends, and a man from town all went hunting. Lindsey and her friends went one direction and Colin, Hassan and the man named Mr. Lyford went in another.
- As Colin , Hassan and Mr. Lyford were walking searching for wild hogs, Colin and Hassan got tired so they sat down to rest. Mr. Lyford kept searching
- Later on while Mr. Lyford was gone a wild hog was coming towards Colin and Hassan. Colin got up to shoot the hog and missed. But what he did hit was a hornet nest.
- Colin and Hassan were getting stung repeatedly so they ran. When the finally lost the hornets they stopped to rest. When they sat down they saw TOC with another girl. Colin confronted him and happened to have his recorder in his pocket from his job and recorded TOC saying that he was not to tell Lindsey.
- Colin ended up showing Lindsey the tape. Later After Lindsey realized that she didn't really like him in the first place and wasn't upset about it.
- Colin spent the next entire day perfecting his theorem. At the end of the day he believed that it was done and that is could predict the outcome of any relationship. And most of the time it did.
- That night Lindsey went missing and Colin thought he knew were she was so he went to the cave. Turns out he was right and Lindsey was there. They stayed up almost all night talking about the theorem and the stories of all the Katherine's.
- Over the next weeks Colin and Hassan stayed in Gutshot, Lindsey and Colin ended up together. The three of them became best friends.
