- Exposition
- Bud, you are going to stay with the Amoses. Your foster brother's name is Todd and is two years older than you I believe.
- Cheer up, Jerry.
- And Jerry you will be staying with a family of three harmless little girls
- Rising Action
- I will take you Grand Rapids. I have food and drink waiting for you in the car
- Climax
- That boy is not my son.
- Bud is a 10 year old orphan living through the Great Depression in 1936. Since the death of his mother, four years earlier he has been living in an orphanage and has been in and out of several foster homes. What Bud doesn't know is he is about to be selected for another foster home in which his foster brother sticks a pencil up his nose while he is asleep. Right now all the kids in the orphanage are eating breakfast as they watched a woman as she moved along the line in her high heel shoes. To the kids in the orphanage this was bad news, either they'd found a foster home for someone or somebody was about to get paddled. But then she pulls Bud and his friend Jerry out of line and tells them they have been accepted into new temporary care homes starting this afternoon.

- Lefty Lewis finds Bud walking to Grand Rapids and doesn't want to leave him there, so he tries to lure him with a sandwich and a bottle of pop. When Bud decides to go with Lefty Lewis, h goes into the car. But then something very wrong happened. Bud saw a box that said :Urgent: contains human blood and what does Bud think ...VAMPIRE. And that leads to lots of trouble. So when Bud sees this in big red letters he starts to panic. Then Lefty Lewis made a big mistake. He let go of Bud's arm and as soon as he did that Bud slid into the car and locked the door just as Lefty Lewis was reaching for the handle. Bud crawled to the driver's seat and started driving.
- Resolution
- Bud makes his way to Grand Rapids and finds Herman E. Calloway, the man he thinks is his dad. but when he gets there Herman E. Calloway denies being Bud's father and Bud finds Herman E. Calloway is mean and really really old.
- This is the OMG moment . Bud finds out that Herman E. Calloway is not his father but his grandfather. They both have the special rocks that are collected from different areas. And when Herman E. Calloway heard Bud say his mom's name, he new right away that was his daughter . Herman was quiet all the way back to Grand Calloway Station. When they got back Herman locked himself in his room and the others tried to make him come out , but it wouldn't work.
- Bud stays with the band and notices that when one door closed another door opened. Just like his mom said. And now Bud was right where he was supposed to be all along.
