Good Morning class - this is our new student Amber. Please make her feel welcome!
RISING ACTION
Amber, can you please read the first paragraph on page 10?
CONFLICT
Ha Ha Ha
Why does she talk like that?
It was Amber's first day of Grade one. Her family had just moved to Oakville from Australia. She was excited and scarred at the same time!
CLIMAX
Well done Amber, great reading!
The first lesson of the day was reading a story called Charlotte's Web. All of the kids were asked to read out load. The teacher called on Amber to read a paragraph out load. Amber was nervous that the students would make fun of her Australian accent.
FALLING ACTION
Your voice is so cool!
Amber's fears came true, all of the kids began laughing at Amber when she began to read out load.
RESOLUTION
I think that I am going to really like living in Oakville!
Amber decided to ignore the student's laughter and continued to read the paragraph. She was so proud of herself.
Once Amber completed reading the paragraph the whole class began to clap and crowd around her asking her all about where she is from and why she has an accent.
Where are you from?
Amber realized that by facing her fears she is able to overcome her fears and teach people about where she comes from.
