A teen named Jack has decided that you, a good friend from school, may be willing to listen to his dilemma involving an online friend and how he plans to go about the situation.
Storyboard Text
Hey, my name is Jack, and I have encountered a problem. Over the past few weeks, I've been talking to a friend I met in an online chat room. However, my friend keeps pressuring me into meeting them in person, and I'm unsure of what to do,
The decision I need to make is whether or not I want to meet this person. I have explored a few options, and my 3 choices I've thought of are I meet my friend, I just tell them no, or I just stop talking to them. The consequences to these choices are if I meet my friend, they could potentially not be who they said they were. If I say no, they may keep pressuring me into meeting them. If I stop talking to my friend, we won't be friends anymore. I value our friendship and trust, however I also value my own security and privacy.
After some careful consideration, I have decided that I'll adjust my refusal skills a bit and hopefully they get the memo this time. I will explain to my friend why I'm uncomfortable with meeting them and that I hope we just be friends online. My friend really has not been respecting my privacy, as they keep asking why I don't want to meet in person, and that it would be fun if we did meet and we can do fun things together. I hope now that my friend understands that no means no. I anticipate that maybe my friend will comprehend my feelings better, and we can just remain online friends. Thanks for listening to my story. Have a nice day.
