Harry Blackmun was born in Nashville, Illinois 1908. He had both parents, his mother Theo Reuter and father Corwin Blackmun. His father owned a small store. Blackmun attended elementary school and Sunday school as a child.

Harry attended Harvard where he excelled at and graduated summa cum laude in Mathematics. Harry Blackmun died on March 4, 1999. But before law he originally desired to become a doctor but he rasoned that law school was a simpler war towards having a stable carer. He attended Harvard law with his childhood friend Warren Burger. Blackmun first gained a clerkship with Judge John B. Sanborn.

The U.S. The Senate confirmed him on May 12, by a 94-0 vote so he had an easy time being confirmed. He also wrote opinions in First amendment cases. Also was an architect of the Court's commercial speech doctrine.
