A plot diagram is also called a story mountain or story structure chart and has many other names. The plot diagram shows the narrative structure of a typical story: exposition/conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
The plot diagram aids in reading comprehension and helps students see the important themes and plot points of a story. Use plot diagrams to map out the events of a story you are reading, or a story you will write!
