A Labeling Worksheet is intended to provide students with the opportunity to identify parts of a diagram, map, or other visual. The students are expected to recognize and name something without having to draw it themselves.
Labeling Worksheets are beneficial in many subjects, but this is especially true in Science, Social Studies, and World Languages. When learning new terminology, having a visual can be very powerful for retention and understanding. Whether you are asking a student to label parts of the heart or label familiar objects in a different language, there is a strong learning connection between word and visuals.
